School Board Issues Ban on LGBT Pride and Black Lives Matter Flags

A faculty board in Oregon this week voted to ban LGBT delight and Black Lives Matter flags and different objects from all district college buildings after deeming them “political.”
The Newberg Public Faculties board, by a vote of 4 to 3, made the choice Tuesday as a part of an effort to rid faculties of clothes and different objects that are overtly divisive.
Oregon Public Broadcasting reported the choice was made following a four-hour digital assembly on Tuesday. College board vice chair Brian Shannon commented on “divisive” imagery through the assembly.
“The primary purpose of that is to get political symbols, and divisive symbols out of our faculties so we are able to give attention to the already tough job of teaching our college students within the core topics,” Shannon mentioned.
OPB reported that through the assembly, college board member Ines Peña was sporting a Black Lives Matter shirt accompanied by a rainbow-colored headband.
