SAXX swimsuit review

At any one time I own about five or seven pairs of SAXX boxers. I’m not sure of the exact number as when a pair wears out I tend to replace them with a pack of two so the numbers are always in flux but usually tend to be in excess. Why am I so loyal to this brand’s underwear? It’s actually quite a great story: I like them a lot, so I’m going to stick with them. Story time over.

Now for the swimsuit story. I only own one SAXX suit, a 7 inch OH BUOY suit because even with fairly heavy use over the last summer it has shown no signs of wear, both in pools and lakes and salt water. However, the reason I’ll be replacing this suit with another from SAXX once it tears or fades or drifts down the drain (ideally tearing or fading is the problem) is the same reason I love their boxers: the Ballpark Pouch.

Badly named? Yes. However, the Ballpark Pouch is extremely effective, consisting of a pair of soft, very flexible, supportive bands of fabric that rest on either side of a man’s most sensitive external organs. These body parts are held firmly but comfortably in place – and separated from wet legs – as the suit’s wearer swims, paddles, lounges at the beach or pool, or absolutely pushes a perfect spike over the volleyball net, impressing all who watch the Witnessing the point and shaming the opponents on the other side of the clay court.

Men’s Saxx Oh Buoy Shorts

The supportive swim shorts come in a variety of solid colors and fun prints for summer.

Aside from that pocket, the OH BUOY swim shorts have a fine mesh lining that dries quickly without sticking and helps prevent chafing. The upper, which comes in all sorts of colors and patterns, from solid plains to crazy prints (think sharks or palm fronds or rainbow swirls), is made from a blend of polyester and spandex so it flexes well and dries quickly, and that really is all you can ask for.

A drawcord keeps the suit in place and there’s a back pocket with a loop for hanging stuff, as well as a small “secret stash pocket” built into the left leg which I’ve admittedly never used but it’s nice to know it has there is.

Only marginally more expensive than many other swimsuits, this is a pair well worth the investment as every man in every clothing category needs a port of call. Now, if you’ll excuse me, I have to get to the beach and catch some big waves. Or maybe I have to make dinner either way, this is my favorite swimsuit.
