San Francisco Bay Area residents split up to wear COVID masks indoors – CBS San Francisco

SAN HOS (CBS SF) – On Sunday, a leading medical doctor in the country said he was “concerned” about the trajectory of the pandemic in the United States as a highly transported variant of the Delta flows across the country.

“I’m concerned about what’s ahead, because we’re seeing an increasing number of cases among vaccinators, especially,” said U.S. General Surgeon Dr. Vivek Murti.

According to the LA Times COVID-19 report, the number of cases increased by 213.1% in 14 days. On Friday, California reported 4,651 new cases.

“We are roughly on par with the United States,” said Dr. John Swartzberg, a professor and infectious disease expert at the University of California, Berkeley. “It’s disappointing because in mid-June, California was doing much better than the rest of the United States.”

On Sunday, following the announcement on Friday, seven county health workers in the Bay Area area took a full day off to ensure that people wear masks indoors, regardless of vaccination status. Solano and Napa counties are the only counties not included in the collective council.

But not everyone received a message about the recommendation and some couldn’t care less.

Dave, who did not want to be named, said that instead of talking about the pandemic, he did not listen to the source.

“Why am I wearing a mask indoors,” he said. “There’s been a lot of information published that it’s not really necessary to wear a mask at the moment.”

But others, including Jenny Chung, kept their masks despite instructions from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, so that those who are vaccinated do not need to wear masks.

“Just for safety,” said Jenny Chung, who was outside wearing a mask while in the crowded Santana Rovey.

“Now, after a year and a half of this discussion, it’s very clear that the masks are working,” Swartzberg said. “I think people know that.”

In Los Angeles County, the inner mask mandate went into effect on Saturday.
