Russia on Taliban: Possible partners, but also deep regional risks
Russia’s Central Army District mentioned 1,000 Russian troops would participate in a month-long train with Tajikistan, every week after Russia wrapped up navy drills close to the Afghan border with 2,500 Russian, Tajik and Uzbek forces. Beneath its collective safety treaty with Tajikistan, Uzbekistan and different regional powers, the Kremlin is obliged to ship in its navy in case of assault.
