Die in RuneScape may not be as punishing as other MMOs with permanent mechanics, but it does get a little annoying, especially the need to reclaim gold items. But, starting December 6NS, Jagex will remove death penalties and costs for specific bosses as part of the Frank Free Death event. The event will last until January 3rd and there will be a bunch of different bosses every week.

The event will allow players to acquaint themselves with bosses they don’t dare take, and will give developers the chance to gather data to improve the game’s death system, which they admit can use lots of improvements.

“We have effectively offered these free deaths as an admission that our death system is not really working, especially when it comes to learning new deaths,” explains Jagex. tough new boss. “Death is not only a cost issue for the top PvM players, it’s also a barrier for casual or mid-range players to try PvM, as they don’t understand how it works. die or worry about losing money.”

“This is the first step on a long journey towards understanding all of the intricacies surrounding the death rework in RuneScape. And it’s been a journey we’ve been on for a long time, as we’ve been working with a lot of player feedback on this,” added the studio. “The more we learn, the better equipped we are to come up with solutions.”
