Three years later, the former daytime talk show host found out, as Courtney Love revealed Edward Norton and Brad Pitt were mad at her.
Having gone through 10 rounds and then several fights with Donald Trump, Rosie O’Donnell is unafraid of Brad Pitt and Edward Norton. The famous former daytime talk show host ruined the ending of “Fight Club“In an episode of “The Rosie O’Donnell Show” in 1999, when David Fincher’s movie was just premiering in theaters. Although the Tyler Durden turning point is now famous, in the old days, one could walk into a movie theater and be completely surprised by the ending.
In an interview with “The Jess Cagle Show” on Sirius XM radio, O’Donnell finally addressed the difficult issue, though she stopped with a genuine apology.
“I’m just talking because I don’t think [‘Fight Club’] good and the ‘Sixth Sense’ was born. I do not know. It annoys me, the movie,” she said. “So I said – ”Sixth Sense” makes sense, but this doesn’t make sense because the last thing is good, I don’t want to say, but listen – that’s what I did .”
The film’s creative team, including Pitt and Norton, were both annoyed with her, although that certainly didn’t affect the film’s ticket sales.
In the DVD commentary for “Fight Club”, released in 2000, Pitt said: “I guess that’s okay, she hates it. She said, ‘This movie bothered me,’ she couldn’t. It hit a nerve. It hit a nerve whether she wanted to see it or not. But the deal was, she gave the ending on national television. That’s unforgivable.”
According to O’Donnell, she didn’t know what she had done, or if someone was mad at her.
“I didn’t realize. No one talked nonsense to me for three years, maybe even four years,” she said. “And Courtney Love on my show said, ‘Oh my God, Ed Norton and Brad Pitt are so mad at you for what you did.’ I was like ‘What did I do?’ It’s been three years! She was like, “You ruined the ending of ‘Fight Club’,” and I only found out a long time after the incident. “
Regardless of how she feels about her right to express her opinion on her own talk show, O’Donnell doesn’t deny what she’s said.
“Sometimes people ask me online if I did it or not. And I did. I don’t have, like, ‘Oh, my God. I want to hurt these people. ‘ I just feel normal about the emotions of the movie. So it seems to me that I have loathed the men there for a long time, possibly still. But I had no idea I had even done it,” she said. “I guess I spoiled it for the people who worked so hard and I should be more careful with what I say in a negative way about a movie. If you don’t like it, just don’t mention it. That will work better. “
