The India vs New Zealand Twenty20 International Football League (T20I) will kick off from 17 November 2021 (Wednesday) onwards. ‘Men in Blue’ is set to see the beginning of a new era in its shortest format with the arrival of Rohit Sharma as captain and Rahul Dravid as head coach.
Meanwhile, Sharma was speaking in a pre-match press conference before the first match at Sawai Mansingh Stadium, Jaipur alongside Dravid. The 34-year-old man talks about the role of Virat kohli in the shortest format, who previously resigned as T20I captain. Notably, ‘Modern Master’ will not be featured in the limited series against Blackcaps.
“Virat Kohli’s role will not change. He will continue to do what he has done for the team for so many years.” said India’s newly appointed T20I captain Rohit Sharma during a virtual press conference on the eve of the first T20I when he was asked about Kohli.
“He is a very important player for the team. Whenever he plays, he makes an impact. He always leaves his mark on the game,” he added.
“Virat is back, it will only strengthen the team”
The newly appointed captain continued to praise Virat Kohli’s contributions to the national team. Sharma stressed that the Indian team will only get better with the arrival of the Delhi cricketer.
“Everybody has a different role in the team. And those changes are based on whether you hit first or chase so based on that, the roles will continue to change. Everyone is open to that and I’m sure when Virat comes back it will only strengthen the team. His seasoned experience and type of hitter, that will only add value to our squad,” he signed off.
