Rob Zombie Teases Herman’s Look For The Munsters Reboot

Steal the undead

Rob Zombie is getting fans’ attention as he prepares to start filming his much-anticipated reboot The Munsters. Filming will soon begin based on a reimagining of the R-rated 1960s classic sitcom. But although Zombie is set to put its own unique spin on the monstrous family, the director made it clear that he would stay true to the beloved old show in many ways. Case in point, this teases Herman’s design for the film.

Herman must be the most famous member of the Munsters family. Featuring a crib design inspired by Boris Karloff’s Frankenstein’s Monster, the Herman family patriarch played by Fred Gwynne in the original series, who is recognized for his exaggerated eyebrows and extended flat head. Zombie recently took to Instagram to share frames for Herman in his film, and they perfectly coincide with how Herman appeared in the 1960s.

“The clay has run out and the sculpting has begun on a very striking brow set for THE MUNSTERS,” Zombie wrote in his caption. Check out this first look at Herman through a few different head shots below:

Regular Zombie collaborator Jeff Daniel Phillips has been confirmed to play Herman, opposite Sherri Moon Zombie as his vampire wife Lily. The director has previously teased Grandpa Munster (whose cast is unknown) by introducing his sitcom-like wig. We still haven’t gotten the same view of Lily, but Zombies posted some concept art for the couple’s matching gothic fashion, which tells us that Lily would also be a great fit for her sitcom partner.

Dan Roebuck, Jorge Garcia, Richard Brake and Cassandra “Elvira” Peterson are also in the cast. The Munsters A release date has yet to be given, but we do know it will be released simultaneously in theaters and streaming via Peacock when it finally arrives here. | Rob Zombie Teases Herman’s Look For The Munsters Reboot
