RNG disappoints EDward Gaming, returns in the 2021 LPL Summer

Royal Never Give Up picked up two outstanding and quick wins in today’s 2-0 series against EDward Gaming at the 2021 LPL Summer Split.

EDG is very favored when participating in League of Legends match. The team put on a strong showing throughout the tournament, only falling to the Top Esports one game before this series. However, RNG stepped up their game in today’s match and put on a clinical performance to completely overwhelm their opponents, providing a glimpse of their MSI 2021 form.

Jungler Wei, who played Lee Sin and Xin Zhao in today’s match, received both MVP votes. In the first game, he went a lot of unsafe phases that resulted in the death of his team, while also making sure he got away with his life in the process. In game two, the jungler used Xin to invade his opponent early and make them back off, giving his teammates the freedom to control their lanes. As the match progressed, he became a threat to deal with, ending the match against KDA at 4/0/7.

This showdown opens with calculated plays from both teams. No team can take a gold lead because every offensive move they attempt is mirrored by opponents on the other side of the map. A bot lane kill for a top lane kill, a dragon for a Rift Herald. As teams started to regroup around 15 minutes, RNG started to gain the advantage in teamfights thanks to Wei’s important picks against Lee Sin. He continues to use his Flash on cooldown offensively to kick opponents on his team and kill them before they have time to react. After obtaining the Baron, RNG was able to have the first game of the series.

RNG had an even stronger performance in their second game. Wei once again leads the attack from the forest, except this time he does it with Xin Zhao. His strong early game performance created a powerful snowball effect that made EDG unable to recover, ultimately costing them the game and the series.

RNG (5-5) will return to the Rift next week with two matches against Ultra Prime (3-8) and JD Gaming (7-4). While their first opponent shouldn’t prove to be a major threat, the second one is much more fearsome and looks invincible after their most recent performance in the 2021 LPL Summer Split.
