Riot Games Releases New Statement About Safety Precautions For Valuable Champions

After two players were reported positive for COVID at Valorant Champions, event attendees were concerned about the safety precautions Riot Games took. Sentinel’s Jared”zombies“Gitlin said in a post-match press conference that the COVID scare has affected the players and that his team hasn’t been able to train all day because of it. Zombs revealed that a lot of players simply wanted to go home, and the player’s concerns were soon addressed by Riot Games, who released an official statement on the matter.
Riot Games official statement on the COVID-19 situation in Champions
Riot Games revealed that all event participants will now be required to take rapid antigen tests as well as polymerase chain reaction (PCR) tests twice a week. In daily antigen tests, many players test positive. But after the laboratory-confirmed PCR tests were conducted, all the players returned negative results and will be able to continue on stage. The names of the players have yet to be revealed by Riot Games.
Team Liquid’s Nabil “Nivera” Benrlitom and Team Envy’s Victor”Victor“Wong has COVID-19 and both players are required to compete under exceptional circumstances. Earlier this week, Riot Games said that there is a LAN built for such situations and Envy and the Its opponents will be able to play scheduled matches on a network that has been built into a quarantine facility.
Victor and Nivera will join from an isolated room while other players will be able to compete from nearby gyms. The order of matches for Team Envy may change as Riot Games prepares the necessary conditions for the team.
With the World Health Organization (WHO) reporting that COVID-19 is being transmitted faster than previous strains, publishers are on high alert. EA Apex Legends Global Series Split 1 LAN event favors regional online events as countries may implement travel restrictions, which could make it difficult for competitive players.
