Learning protein varieties within the blood of individuals categorized as West Eurasians, Africans, East Asians, South Asians, Native People, Oceanians and Australians, he decided that “round 85 % of variation within the protein varieties could possibly be accounted for by variation inside populations and ‘races,’ and solely 15 % by variation throughout them,” David Reich, a Harvard College geneticist, wrote in the New York Times in 2018. “To the extent that there was variation amongst people, he concluded, most of it was due to ‘variations between people.’ ”
