Rhude Men’s Fall 2022 – WWD

Sitting off the runway in Paris but appreciating as he announced Bally’s new creative director role, designer Rhuigi Villaseñor launched his digital men’s collection Rhude on Wednesday.

Calling it “Bull Market,” Villaseñor was inspired by a meme depicting 2022 millionaire Gordon Gecko as a kid on a laptop in his bedroom, presumably trading money futures. electronic.

His imaginary ensemble for today’s greedy suit is a mix of luxury and lounge. “The new power suit is pajamas,” he laughs during a call with Zoom from his Los Angeles studio.

The designer will also show off the star-studded Spring 2022 Rhude runway show he hosted in Beverly Hills last June, which is a big moment for the brand and what it could be, shows off his full range of products to date, with both men’s and women’s apparel.

“I saw an increase in searches for eyewear, outerwear and accessories, making up only 20% of the business,” he said of the effect of the show, which featured Lena Waithe, Cynthia Erivo, Saweetie , Chris Brown and more . “For 2022, we were expecting a 100% increase, but with current traction it could be a 200% increase,” he said of Bally’s post-announcement sales projections.

Villaseñor is a very commercial designer, and his fall collection offers a little bit of everything – pinstripe t-shirts and pants look great, classic cropped cashmere sweaters, and classic tailored cashmere sweaters. ton sur ton, faux peacock coats and tracksuits with what New York City mayor Eric Adams would call a swagger.

For those wondering what the designer has planned for his debut later this year at Swiss luxury brand Bally, a glossy black jacket with a red faux fur collar and pants matching black leather suggested – and accentuated the designer’s bold sense of color.

And for his Rhude Boy fan base, he combined Fair Isles preppy, tweed, and denim, and created a compelling case for the white Wallabee as the new loafer.

Some pieces, including soccer team-style scarves, have “Rhude” spelled out on them, signaling how Villaseñor has been able to nurture a community that will transition to Lugano.
