Review: ‘Mother / Android’


Post-apocalyptic stories are rapidly gaining popularity, making it even harder for a writer or director to come up with anything that hasn’t been seen or done before at least a few times. What makes Mother / Android Still, what stands out from the pack, it’s an end-of-world sci-fi thriller as well as a strong personal story for first-time writer and film director Mattson Tomlin.

As a kid, the future Netflix writer was hugely successful Power project and Matt Reeves’ Batman abandoned by his Romanian biological parents in 1989 during the country’s revolution, which helped shape him into the man he is today. Essentially the same concept and combining it into an ambitious trip story with many twists and turns, Mother / Android It was an ambitious, if not outright successful, debut.
