Resident Evil Village DLC originally had a different focus

Resident Evil Village: Gold Edition is due out next month, which comes with the Shadows of Rose DLC, but Capcom says it once had a different plan.

A few people at Capcom said that Resident Evil Village The Shadows of Rose DLC was created by shifting the focus away from a Chris Redfield story. As one of the best horror games of 2021, many were expecting new content for the survival title, or at least hoping to hear about a possible sequel. However, the former is currently on the way, which will include some other features.

Capcom will launch the Gold Edition of the game on October 28th. This upcoming version will be included Resident Evil Village‘s shadow of the rose DLC, additional playable characters for the Mercenaries mode and a new third-person perspective that fans have been looking forward to. However, it turns out that the titular rose wasn’t the only focus of the DLC, with ideas for Chris Redfield, the series’ longtime buff hero.

In a recent interview with Inside, as spotted by GamesRadar, Resident Evil Village Director Kento Kinoshita said they worked on a concept for a while before settling on Rose’s story. The idea would have involved Chris Redfield “going crazy,” but they eventually shifted focus to work on Shadows of Rose instead. Shortly after the release of the main game last May, a “Winters expansion” was in development. Whether this postponed plan will be implemented is unknown at this time, but Kinoshita goes on to say that the team wanted to listen to the fans, many of whom were “moved by the main story”.

In the same interview, it was revealed that Ethan’s face will not be seen Resident Evil Village Third-person mode, even when players move the camera. According to producer Masao Kawada, the reason for this has to do with the fact that the main character represents the player’s ego. Apparently when players try to move the camera around to see his face, it just bounces back or changes angle.

Fans don’t have to wait much longer now RE8‘s DLC. That has been said shadow of the rose will complete Winters’ story, meaning the next installment in the long-running survival horror series will likely feature new characters. However, it’s still too early to say what will happen resident evil 9. While there will almost certainly be a new entry, at this point all fans can only speculate and anticipate the arrival of the Gold Edition of village.

Resident Evil Village is available now for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One and Xbox Series X, with the Gold Edition coming October 28th.
