Religions have destroyed indigenous people’s culture: Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma

Indigenous communities of Assam are dropping their tradition, language and custom because of the aggressive marketing campaign of established religions, Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma has mentioned. Replying to a dialogue on the newly created Indigenous Religion and Tradition division, throughout Zero Hour on Thursday, Sarma mentioned communities comparable to Bodos and Mising belonged to indigenous faiths comparable to Bathou and Donyi Polo.

“Whereas bushes are worshipped by Bathou, Donyi Poli worship the solar and moon. Owing to Sanskritisation and aggressive non secular marketing campaign of various teams, indigenous communities have been dropping their tradition, language and custom. The Tiwa folks misplaced their language.
