Rajya Sabha saw many postponements

The Rajya Sabha proceedings were adjourned for the third time on Tuesday amid an uproar by YSR Congress members claim special status for Andhra Pradesh.

When The Senate reconvened at 1 p.m. after two postponements, members of the YSR National Assembly led by V Vijaysai Reddy marched into the well and chanted “We want justice. We want special status.” for Andhra Pradesh.”

Vice President Harivansh Narayan Singh repeatedly asked protest members to return to their seats and allow debate on the COVID-19 pandemic.

Leader of the House Piyush Goyal appealed to protest members to allow discussion on an important issue that affects all of humanity.

“I would like to appeal to allow the House of Commons to discuss this very important topic affecting the whole world today. The whole country is watching us, following this debate on Covid. Please discuss. on this important issue,” he said.

Goyal also asked YSR members of Parliament to share their experiences in dealing with the pandemic and “provide us with guidance so that others can benefit from your experience as well.”

However, the protest members did not comply with the Vice President’s request to keep the House in order and continued to shout standing in the Well.

Meanwhile, the Vice President requested Leader of the Opposition Party Mallikarjun Kharge to start the debate.

Amidst the uproar, Kharge said, “The house is out of order. How can I tell?”

Then the Vice President called the other members. Since Vinay P Sahasrabuddhe was not there, Swapan Das Gupta (nominated) spoke amid the uproar.

As the chant continued, the chair suspended the House for 15 minutes.

Prior to that, proceedings in the House of Representatives were adjourned twice because of various issues including Pegasus snooping goods. | Rajya Sabha saw many postponements
