Raised $350,000 for a Burger King employee who received a meager gift bag for 27 years of service – National

Longtime Burger King employee Kevin Ford recently celebrated his 27th anniversary as an employee at the fast-food chain, and while he hasn’t missed a day’s work during that time, he received a meager goodie bag of loyalty as a thank you for his dedication .

Ford, 60, has worked at Burger King’s McCarren Las Vegas Airport location for nearly three decades. When he recently announced his work anniversary to management, they tied the knot to put together a thank-you gift that included a movie ticket, a Starbucks coffee mug, a lanyard, some pens and candy, and a string backpack.

Ford, a humble guy, shared a video on TikTok of him opening his backpack and the gifts inside, and thanking his co-workers.

The video went megaviral (more than two million views), with most people congratulating Ford and applauding the gracious way he accepted the gifts, but also asking, “Is that it?”

Now the TikToker and loyal employees are rewarded in a much bigger way.

According to Fortune, seeing the video’s success prompted Ford’s daughter Sernya to set up a GoFundMe page to help her father raise $200 so he could visit his grandchildren.

“The man in this video is my father. He’s been at his job for 27 years and yes, he’s never missed a day’s work,” Sernya wrote on the GoFundMe page.

She noted that Ford started working at Burger King as a single father of four and stayed at the job because he had a good health insurance package.

“My father continues to work here because although he looks young he is reaching retirement age and leaving would cost him his retirement,” she wrote, adding, “In no way do we ask for money or does he expect any money, but if someone does.” If you feel like blessing him, he would like to visit his grandchildren.”

It didn’t take long to raise the $200 — in fact, the fundraiser is now in the six figures and has raised more than $350,000 at the time of publication.

Actor David Spade was one of the contributors and donated five grand to the hard worker, reports TMZ.

But the good news doesn’t end here. Last week, The Today Show made him an insane offer and flew him to New York to reunite with his grandchildren on the air.

“I’ve been crying so much all these days and of course I’m crying again on live TV when I see my grandkids,” he told Fox11 of the happy reunion.

And despite his recent windfall, Ford says he’s not planning any vacation days or retirement any time soon.

“You never know, it’s day to day but I haven’t thought of anything other than visiting my grandkids for a while and maybe raising money for their college, but I’m not even thinking about that. he added. “I’m just working.”
