Battle Royale fans get a great win today, because Anonymous Player’s Battlefield finally free to play. As revealed in Game Awards 2021, the giant of the modern battle royale genre is finally going up against the biggest names in the genre. Even better, the free release date for PUBG is approaching.

PUBG will release for free on January 12, 2022. The change will affect all versions of the game, from PC to PlayStation and Xbox.

This can be disappointing for players who have paid full price for the game over the years. Those fans, however, have nothing to fear. PUBG Corp’s team hasn’t completely eliminated the paying option for those who want it. Once the game becomes F2P, the studio will launch Battlegrounds Plus, a premium upgrade that offers various exclusive features and cosmetics.

Even better, to reward dedicated fans, PUBG Corp will be offering all players who have previously purchased PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds a special PUBG Anniversary Pack. Among other bonuses, the Special Anniversary Pack includes an upgrade to Battlegrounds Plus. A set of Battle-Hardened skins and legacy nameplates are also included in the deal.

The PUBG team is making a big push for this free-to-play transition. ONE New pre-registration site has been opened, offering a chance to earn limited-time in-game items. There’s a bonus for inviting new players and even a special quiz to earn special rewards between now and January 11, 2022.

All told, the news is good. PUBG will become free-to-play on January 12, 2022. Players on PS4, PS5, PC, Xbox One or Series X | S unregistered will have no reason.
