PUBG: Battlegrounds is now a free game

It is the time now. Gather your team and hunt for that chicken dinner because PUBG: Battlegrounds finally free to play.

As revealed at The Game Awards in 2021, January 12 marks the day when one of today’s biggest battle royale titles is released for free on PC, consoles and mobile devices.

Before today, players on mobile devices could experience the action for free, but now anyone can participate. Like other free games, players will be able to purchase cosmetics and other unlockables in the game. However, it won’t cost a dime to get started with the game.

If you purchased the game before today’s news, you’ll get access to the premium service, Battleground Plus. With this, you will have access to ranked play, custom modes, and special in-game items. You will also receive PUBG Special commemorative pack with some free in-game loot.

Along with the game being released for free, update 15.2 is also rolling out today, bringing a ton of new content to the game.

PUBG first launched in early access on Steam in 2017, before quickly attracting a large audience. At the time, it was the biggest Battle Royale game on the market. Over the years, it has continued to maintain a dedicated player base as well as expanding strongly with the release of PUBG Mobile.

Now that the game is free, it’s the perfect time for those players who’ve dropped out to get in on the action. Whether you’re using Xbox, PlayStation or PC, you can go to your digital store and download it PUBG free now. PUBG: Battlegrounds is now a free game
