PS Plus Extra loses a game in August 2022
While it wasn’t announced with much fanfare, PS Plus Extra is currently set to lose a game in August 2022 due to unique circumstances.
The expansion of Sony PSPlus The service for including the new Extra and Premium tiers seems to have been well received. In short, PS Plus Essential is PS Plus as before, PS Plus Extra grants access to a library of PS4 and PS5 games, and Premium expands this library with PS1, PS2, PSP, PS3 games, among others.
Indeed, while PS Plus Essential runs as usual, Extra and Premium have raised the bar for services. The July 2022 PS Plus Extra and Premium releases featured a total of 18 games, including the viral hit from day one Stray. Of course, just like the competition Xbox Game Pass, it stands to reason that games will eventually leave the service. It hasn’t lost too many yet because it’s so early in its growth cycle, and it’s likely that the additions will always outpace the removals. However, fans should be aware that PS Plus Extra loses a game in August 2022.
According to PlayStation Store, Shadowfall kill zone will be removed from PS Plus Extra on August 11 at 9:00 AM CT. Fans have until this point to claim the game, but they should be aware that this is not a timed removal or anything like that. Instead of this, Shadowfall kill zone will be removed on August 11th because its online services will be shut down on August 12th.
From August 12th, all online features, services and game modes will be available for Shadowfall kill zone, including the popular Intercept mode, will no longer be accessible. Those who own Shadowfall kill zone will still be able to play the game in offline single player mode, but of course such a decision drastically reduces the viability of the game, even on a service like PS Plus Extra. Of course, as of this writing, fans have almost two weeks to enjoy the game, but after that, only offline options remain.
PS Plus subscribers should expect plenty of new additions over the next month. The PS Plus Essential games for August 2022 have already been revealed and included Tony Hawk’s Pro Skate 1 + 2, Yakuza: Like a Dragon, and Little nightmares. The PS Plus Extra and Premium games for August 2022 have yet to be announced, but they will arrive sometime around mid-month and release shortly thereafter.
