Prince William “Cringes” While Singing With Taylor Swift and Jon Bon Jovi

Even members of the British monarchy have had embarrassing experiences that they wish they (and the public) could forget. And in Prince WilliamIn his case, it was the time when he decided to make the very unusual choice of going on stage and singing along. Taylor Swift and Jon Bon Jovi.
During a Centrepoint charity event held at Kensington Palace in 2013, the royal joined two musicians on stage singing a rendition of Bon Jovi’s “Livin” on a Prayer”, a moment that even eight years later William confessed to still making him “heartbroken”. In a Christmas episode of Apple Fitness + ‘s Time to walk , the Duke of Cambridge recalls, “So about – it’s been almost 10 years now – I couldn’t believe I was actually telling this story. I went to a charity gala for Centrepoint, which is a charity for young homeless people that I love and have supported for many years. It was an annual fundraiser, and I showed up, and Jon Bon Jovi and Taylor Swift were also at the event, which almost knocked me over. ”
He continued, “When I sat down to watch Jon Bon Jovi do his performance, I thought, ‘That’s it. My work is done. I’m going to have dinner in a minute, and I can chat with some people, and you know, I’m on a bit of a mission right now. ‘ I don’t think what will happen next. I sat next to Taylor Swift. She is to my left. And after Jon performed his first song, there was a pause, and she turned to me. She put her hand on mine, looked me straight in the eye, and said, ‘Come on, William. Go and sing,” and to the royal surprise, he obliged. William explains, “To this day, I still don’t know what happened to me. Honestly, even now I’m cringing on what happened next and I don’t understand why I gave in. But, honestly, if Taylor Swift looks you straight in the eye, touches your arm and says, ‘Come with me…’ I stand up like a puppy and say, ‘Yeah, okay Okay, that sounds like a great idea. I will follow you.'”
“I walked onto the stage in a trance, and then about halfway through Jon Bon Jovi’s ‘Livin’ on a Prayer’, I woke up and thought to myself, ‘I’m standing on stage singing ‘Livin William’ speak. “But the young Centrepoint boys and girls there all loved it and cheered. So I thought, ‘Well, if they like it, the night is for them. So sod it. I can’t be the fool who will ruin it for everyone. ‘ And so I try to memorize some words and sing as hard as I can. Beneath my black tie, a lot of sweat was pouring out. I feel like a swan, where I’m trying to keep myself calm on the outside, but inside, the little feet are rowing fast.”
The prince added that while you would think, given his very public position, that he would feel comfortable on stage no matter the occasion, he confessed, “When I do the expressions and things like that, I’ve done a lot of it now, they’re not a problem. But I’m not done singing. Sometimes, when you’re taken out of your comfort zone, you have to roll with it. and I think we’ve reached a stage in life where we’re micromanaging ourselves. We’re worried about: how do we look on social media? Who says anything about me? What’s up? There’s a lot of pressure, but I think it’s okay to be stupid. with this.” William concluded, “So yeah, go ahead and laugh. And don’t go watch the video of me singing. Or go and watch it, but just laugh to yourself about how I feel.”
