Prairie Mountain Health is reducing emergency departments in some cities due to staff shortages – Winnipeg

Some Manitoba emergency rooms will be closed or operating reduced hours for the foreseeable future due to staff shortages.
Prairie Mountain Health says Treherne and Melita ER and hospitalizations are on hold for now.
For Grandview, the emergency room is available Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Night and weekend ER access will no longer be available starting July 8th.
The Souris emergency room is open 24 hours a day except Mondays and Wednesdays.

ER closures expected as doctors worry about healthcare in rural and northern Manitoba
Prairie Mountain says it is working to hire doctors and other health workers to try to restore normal operations.
Officials are urging people dealing with emergency situations to call 9-1-1.
“We thank the residents of Prairie Mountain Health for their patience and understanding during this time. Please help by using the Emergency Room for the purpose it was designed during the designated hours – to address serious medical needs. Any less serious health needs should be treated through your primary care (doctor or nurse) clinic,” the health agency said on its website.
The latest restrictions and closures come as hospitals across the province struggle with staff shortages.
