CHICAGO (CBS) – Police on Sunday warned people of two incidents in Bronzeville that resulted in the victims being robbed and their car stolen after arranging a meeting with the person they were supposed to buy from.
In both cases, the victims met with someone to sell something they were willing to buy on an online marketplace platform.
Instead, each victim with a firearm was forced by four men to attack his personal car and seize his personal property. The attackers then forced each victim to go to an ATM to give them money before they left in his car.
The robbery took place at the following times and places:
• 3 p.m., Friday, June 25, at 3500 South Cottage Grove Avenue;
• At 12:15 a.m. Saturday, July 17, at 500 East 33rd Block.
According to police, the attackers are between 16 and 24 years old.
People are reminded to check the seller’s or buyer’s profile before having a personal meeting with them, and to always meet in a public place, such as a police station, when doing such a deal.
Anyone with information about this robbery is asked to call the detectives of the Yak area by calling (312) 747-8384.
