Pokemon TCG opens illustration exhibition online

Pokemon TCG launches an online exhibit highlighting the numerous illustrations found in the trading card game over the years.

Pokemon TCG has released many collectible trading cards since its introduction in Japan in 1996. The trading card game hit the West Coast in 1999 and over the years has built such a dedicated community that some Pokemon TCG Items were priced dearly due to their rarity. To celebrate both the trading card game and its loving fanbase, Pokemon TCG recently opened a special exhibition online showcasing the many illustrations that have appeared on the game’s trading cards over time.

With each new one Pokemon generation, the Pokemon TCG Playerbase is likely expecting the release of a new generation of trading cards to follow soon. As Pokemon Scarlet and violet November 2022 releases, fans are likely expecting the new deck from Pokemon Maps the company will be releasing and how it will change the meta. Also, part of the community’s excitement is likely to be what type of new art the next generation of cards will feature, as this will likely give them more incentive to collect pieces that suit their visual preferences.

To celebrate the many Pokemon card illustrations found in the game, Pokemon TCG has opened an online exhibition from August to October 2022. Depending on the website, the illustrations are categorized in different ways for visitors. There are three main categories in the online exhibition entitled “Life”, “History” and “Artist”. The “Life” category shows Pokémon in different landscape settings, while “Story” tells the story of how Pokemon Card illustrations have evolved over time. Finally, the Artists category shares the works of various artists who contributed to the Pokemon TCG Industry.


Visitors will likely appreciate that there are other special rooms that focus on specific themes Pokemon TCG illustrations. These include pieces by Takumi Wada, an illustrator well known for his work in Nintendo series The Legend Of Zelda, Super Mario, and Super Smash Bros. Other rooms in the exhibit also feature various Pikachu card illustrations and the winners of each Pokemon TCG Illustration Contest 2022. Fans should note that in order to access the various rooms in the online exhibition, they must create a free account on the website.
