Starting on December 1, Season of Heritage begins and Professor Willow is investigating a historic cave complex with a giant door and a complex set of unlocking mechanisms. The season runs until February, so it is expected that the answer to this mystery will slowly come out over time, similar to extended seasonal Mischief quests. Of course, each month there will be a new seasonal reward and time study, encouraging players to keep logging in.

Players will also have monthly challenges, unlocking different items, Pokemon, and cosmetics to achieve different milestones. In December, players who collect 120,000 stardust can unlock the Deino Hat for their avatar. However, certain milestones towards that goal also unlock Pokemon like Deino, XP bonuses, as well as items like fruit and Poke Balls. January and February also have XP and Catch challenges to unlock Goomy and Noibat hat items, although they appear to be Pokemon GO Bonus before buying tour.

Naturally, there were several events planned, the first of which was Pokemon GO Community Day on December 18 features all of the previously introduced Pokemon in 2021. Pokemon GO Tour: Johto begins February 26, possibly the last major event of the season ending March 1, 2022.

While the disclosure does not specifically mention Pokemon Legend: Arceus, there seem to be many clues that the binding is happening. Not just this game release date and season Pokemon GO overlap, but the logo also has similarities in writing and the big mountain in the background. The featured story also mentions that “we will look to the past for answers that will help guide us into the future” which seems to allude to the fact that Arceus part of a prequel. Naturally, these clues got the community thinking about a potential crossover event with potential Hisuian Area forms such as Growlithe being added.

Pokemon GO currently available on Android and iOS devices.
