Pokemon GO fans are not happy with the “weekend box”

Pokemon GO is celebrating Cyber Week with some new boxes, but fans aren’t convinced these new additions are worth it.
With the Black Friday and Cyber Monday weekend approaching, Pokemon GO opted in early to the celebration and opened early Cyber Week deals. However, not all fans are satisfied with this decision. In fact, some Pokemon GO players have gathered together to share complaints about Cyber Week’s box prices.
Many commemorative video games Black Friday and Cyber Monday with discounts on microtransactions and other features that require real-world payments. However, many shoppers have complained for years that stores don’t actually offer discounts on their supposed deals, if at all. Looks like the store is found inside Pokemon GO Is no exception.
Redditor h2oskid3 started the conversation by sharing screenshots of Cyber Week boxes and their associated prices, which appear to be quite similar to the price of Boxes are usually available in Pokemon GO. The Cyber Week Special Box costs 480 PokeCoins, the Cyber Week Extreme Box costs 1480 PokeCoins and the Cyber Week Adventure Box costs 1480 PokeCoins. H2oskid3 says that when it comes to pricing, they assume that Cyber Week’s boxes will have better content than the regular selection, but that doesn’t appear to be the case.
According to some users, Niantic removed one Star Shard and two regular Incubators from the Cyber Week Adventure Box while adding only one Incense. The result can be interpreted as a significant downgrade from the original Adventure Box, all while charging the same price. Assuming this happened at the same time as Ed Sheeran’s Collaborative Event, it’s possible that the lack of good deals during Cyber Week comes from Niantic’s prioritization of collaboration over Cyber Week. It’s also possible that Niantic is simply hoping that players won’t notice the changes – or lack them.
As I write, it seems Pokemon GO players are not impressed by Niantic’s effort to capitalize on Cyber Week. Some players have dismissed the deal as just another example of a retailer trying to scam naive shoppers. One user openly mourns the fact that they bought a Cyber Week box before realizing the truth. The second user noted that Niantic did something similar with Halloween boxes, while the third noted that the decision was likely made because the pandemic is hurting Niantic’s earnings. At least one user has suggested that players dig through the boxes for themselves and decide if the different assets are worthwhile.
Pokemon GO currently available on Android and iOS devices.
