A Pokemon Fan made a custom Charizard style Game Boy Color and is sharing the creation on social media. It’s no secret though Pokemon Fans are among the most artistically talented fan bases in pop culture, most of these works of art take the form of drawings, sculptures or crochet works. This fan decided to go one step further and completely transform a normal Game Boy Color into a “Flame Boy” Color.

Arguably the most popular Pokémon of all time aside from Pikachu, Charizard is a first generation fire/flying dual-type with a colorful history in all facets of the franchise. The mascot of the original Pokemon Red versionthe character’s popularity has never wavered since, with one fan recently showing off an 18-year-old Charizard that they’ve had ever since Pokemon FireRed, Pokemon Red version2004 re-release.

The amazing custom Game Boy Color was created by a user by the name of u/Takezoretoro, who posted his creation on one of the main sites Pokemon subreddits. Rather than using Charizard’s signature orange, red, and cream color scheme that fans are familiar with, the artist opts for a shimmering gold and silver palette instead. Colors are mottled in seemingly random shapes, contrasting with the Game Boy’s original black color, with a stylized Charizard centered over the controls. The d-pad and buttons stand out from the rest of the system, filled with metallic flecks of Charizard’s usual fiery color scheme.

In addition, u/Takezoretoro has cleverly replaced the text that normally reads “Game Boy” color with “Flame Boy” color, giving the portable gaming system a completely customized feel. I have already collected likes, this is actually the second time Pokemon Fan-artist created an adapted version of the handheld console with the same Pokemon. Almost exactly a year ago, the same artist created their first custom charizard “Flameboy” Game Boy, which features a deep glittery red with a more standard-looking charizard in the same spot as the one above.

Knowing how intertwined the Pokemon As a video game series belongs to the portable console family, it’s easy to see why Game Boys have become such a popular medium Pokemon Fan Art. Besides customizing the nostalgic system itself, players are customizing the games themselves. A fan recently made headlines for creating a customized Game Boy cartridge Wordl, the virally popular word guessing game that gained prominence this year. While Nintendo has essentially abandoned the Game Boy line, eclipsed by the Switch’s portability, continued use of the systems is a testament to the Game Boy’s enduring popularity.

With Pokemon Scarlet and violetWith the release of , fast approaching, fans can likely expect a whole new wave of Pokemon Fan art through all sorts of mediums. However, when it comes to Game Boy, the classics certainly reign supreme.
