Barboach is a dual Pokemon Water and Ground in Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Shining pearls, who was first introduced in the Gen 3 region of Hoenn. It has a shiny variant and evolves into Whiscash upon reaching level 30.

Barboach can be located in these areas using the Good Rod:

  • Highway 205 North.
  • Road 208.
  • Route 210 North.
  • Route 212 South.
  • Road 227.
  • Road 228.
  • Path destroyed.
  • City of Eterna.
  • Celestic Town.
  • Oreburgh Gate.
  • Safari Zone.
  • Mount Coronet.
  • The Grand Underground.

You can find Barboach in the following locations of The Grand Underground:

  • Swamp cave.
  • Quiet water cave.
  • Riverbank Cave.
  • Fountainspring Cave.
  • Bogsunk Cave.

Barboach is one of the required Pokedex items to get National Dex in Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Shining pearls from Professor Oak. Pokemon don’t need to be caught, just seen to get dex. This means that the Elite Four and Cynthia must also be defeated, as they battle Pokemon that cannot be seen anywhere else in the game.

Whiscash is the next and only evolution of Barboach, and can be obtained by reaching level 30 with Barboach or by catching in the wild. Whiscash can be located in these areas using the Super Rod:

  • Road 208.
  • Route 210 North.
  • 212 Male.
  • Road 227.
  • Road 228.
  • Path destroyed.
  • City of Eterna.
  • Celestic Town.
  • Oreburgh Gate.
  • Safari Game.
  • Attachment. Coronet.
  • The Grand Underground.

You can find Whiscash in the following locations of The Grand Underground:

  • Swamp cave.
  • Quiet water cave.
  • Riverbank Cave.
  • Fountainspring Cave.
  • Bogsunk Cave.

These are the same locations as Barboach, but players must make sure they have Super Rod in Brilliant diamond and Shining pearls alternative equipment if they want to capture Whiscash. Getting this improved stick requires the player to defeat the Elite Four and get the National Dex, however, so you should have Barboach in your party to get the Whiscash. This one takes advantage of the shared experience.
