To find some fossils, the player will first have to visit the Man’s House underground in Eterna City. The Underground Man himself will be there, waiting for the player in a blue jumpsuit. If the player talks to him, he will give them an Discovery Kit, which is the only thing needed to start digging for fossils. Once the Discovery Kit is secured, players will need to go to Grand Underground, it’s a new place in Shining pearls and Brilliant diamond.

Go map of the Grand Underground, just use the Underworld Discovery Toolkit. Fossils can be found within the walls of any tunnel between caves, so players will want to head to one of those. Walls containing fossils will be marked on the minimap with small glittering gold spots. Just walk to the location and press the interactive button until the exact location is found. The player will then receive an on-screen message: “The wall is a bit swollen. Would you like to try digging into it?” Press “Yes” and a fossil digging mini-game will begin.

In both Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Pokemon Shining Pearl, the screen will look like the one above. All brown spots only have to be hit once, but gray spots have to hit twice to reach the level of fossils. The player should interact with several points around the map until an object appears below the rubble. At the top of the screen is a crack that grows with each hit, and the player needs to find their fossil and fully excavate it before the crack goes all the way to the left side of the screen; this will cause the wall to fall and any fossils still buried will disappear with it.
