Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl players discover that Pokemon following them can run in and reveal the location of hidden items.
With the recent launch of Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Shining pearls, gamers worldwide had the chance to return to the Sinnoh region and explore recreated locations, catch new and old Pokemon, and uncover new secrets. A player recently discovered that there is a tracking Pokemon in Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Shining pearls can help uncover invisible items – by running straight at them.
The ability to make a Pokemon track the player is unlocked by approaching Amity Square in Hearthome City, where the player is prompted to take a “cute” Pokemon for a walk around the park. Players will then be able to walk any Pokemon, cute or otherwise, by selecting it on the group screen and choosing the Walk Together option. While many Pokemon like Gyarados won’t be displayed to scale, the ability to have a Pokemon follow the player’s character around can enhance the feeling of developing a relationship with these lovable monsters, especially especially when they prove to be useful.
Reddit user iwillblastufat shared a 20-second video depicting themselves hanging out with an Empoleon, the ultimate evolution of an Empoleon. Sinnoh starts up Pokemon Piplup, followed them. The pair ran across a rocky beach on 213th Street, avoiding figures in tank tops, before Empoleon suddenly began running in place. The player returns and regroups with Empoleon, who was trapped on an invisible item, and collects the item to find a bottle of Calcium.
Inquisitive players can find a variety hidden items in Pokemon Game as Brilliant diamond and Shining pearls, from different types of Poke Balls to Potions to useful items like Honey. However, players usually have to spot them using the Poketch’s Dowsing function, not by letting Pokemon stumble across them. This unexpected feature could be a bug that causes tracking Pokemon to collide with unseen items, but if so, that might not be such a bad thing.
As of writing, it seems that fans have mixed feelings about Pokemon follower abilities to crash into invisible items. Some users expressed approval for this feature, especially since Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Shining pearls doesn’t seem to have updated the clumsy Dowser mechanism. One user said that it would be more interesting to see tracking Pokemon actively turn around when passing a hidden object rather than just being caught on it. However, another user asked if the games were even tested prior to release.
