Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl Fan make a real-life Poketch watch
A Pokemon fan recreated the Pokemon Diamond and Pearl’s Poketch watches in real life with an Apple Watch and shared the source code via social media.
With the release Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Shining pearls towards the horizon, it’s no surprise to see fans of the series celebrate high expectations Pokemon rework, do it again. One fan took it to the next level by building a real-life Poketch using a smartwatch.
Although Poketch is an upcoming feature of Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Shining pearls, it dates back to their early days on the Nintendo DS. Poketch occupies the bottom screen of the system, acting as a kind of smartwatch to aid the player in their journey. It has many apps, such as clocks, calculators, pedometers, etc., that can be swapped between apps with the push of a button.
Now, u/IdreesInc has brought Poketch to life by recreating it on one of the Apple devices, Apple Watch. All of the default apps that come with Poketch are included, along with some of its unlockable features like a coin toss, area map, and match checker. Most impressive, however, is the color change feature, which allows players to change the color of the Poketch interface with a slider. u/IdreesInc also shared the source code for this remarkable achievement, so that others can clone the Poketch on their own Apple Watch.
U/IdreesInc’s work is an amazing achievement, as the interface is a perfect recreation of Original Poketch from Diamond Pokemon and Pearl. Even small details have been included; for example, the digital clock lights up to the touch and the pedometer resets if the user switches out of the app. The animations have also been replicated, creating another neat touch. Apparently, u/IdreesInc paid great attention to the original Poketch’s features and didn’t take any shortcuts in recreating it for the Apple Watch.
NS Pokemon The fan community is famous for coming up with creative ways to show appreciation for the franchise. Some design their own custom Pokemon, while others will create Brand new fanmade game. However, U/IdreesInc stands out for bringing a beloved feature from Diamond Pokemon and Pearl into the real world, even sharing it with others for free. With Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Shining pearls slated for release tomorrow, it’s a good opportunity to celebrate such favorites in Pokemon series.
For those who might be interested, u/IdreesInc posted a link to the Poketch source code in the comments section of the video. However, Nintendo is notorious for shutting down fan-generated content, so access to the source code may be restricted. However, Poketch re-creation is a great way to celebrate Sinnoh titles and hope Pokemon fans will be able to enjoy it in the near future.
