India at Tokyo Olympics: Chanu lifted a total of 202 kg (in the 87kg weight class and in the 115kg weight class) during his four successful attempts in the race. Jihui Hou from China lifted 210 kilograms of gold, setting a new Olympic record, while Vindy Kantika Aysahi of Indonesia won 194 kilograms of bronze.
India at Tokyo Olympics: With this commemorative silver medal, Chanu became the second Indian weightlifter to win an Olympic medal after Karnam Malleswari in the 69kg weight class at the 2000 Sydney Games when the women’s weightlifting arena was first opened to the public.
