PlayStation Console Exclusive Sifu Now Coming Sooner Than Expected
Revealed nonchalantly at the end of a PlayStation Blog post, developer Sloclap has stated that Sifu will launch two weeks earlier than previously announced. Sifu will now be released on February 8 instead of February 22.

Previously done Martial Arts Game 2017 Absolver, Slotlap is applying his knowledge of the art of combat to a single-player game around this time. Director of Marketing at Sloclap, Felix Garczynski, explained that the team wanted to draw as much from martial arts films as Old boy, Raid and John Wick. Felix explains that the melee combat found in those movies especially inspires the team and leads to Sifu has the classic aesthetic of those movies. Realistic animations, camera frames and most of all, realistic combat, will give players the feeling that they are the protagonist of a kung fu movie.
Felix explains that Sloclap designed a system called Structure that simulates real ferocity when breaking the enemy’s stance. Both the player and their enemies have warp gauges that, when filled, will allow the player to initiate a powerful kill spree on their opponents to effectively end the battle. If a player’s gauge is depleted, they will find themselves powerless for a short time and ignore attacks. Blocking attacks quickly fills the gauge and Felix says, the act of parrying in Sifu will create an opportunity to instantly stagger an enemy without filling the gauge line. There will also be unlockable skills to aid players in building combos.
In Sifu, players will also need to take advantage of their environment, effectively throwing things at enemies’ feet, ducking or diving across tables, throwing items or crafting weapons from surrounding objects. This acts as a way for the player to clear distance from the opponent quickly while also keeping them off guard. Finally, when approaching an opponent, the player can use what Slotlap calls a Focus. This technique is a resource that accumulates over a fight and allows the player to enter a slo-mo state in which they can target a weak spot and perform a devastating attack that can nullify. or seriously injure the enemy. Various focused attacks will also be part of the unlockable skills, creating more customization for the player’s character.
Look like Sifu released on the same day like other high profile releases such as Destiny: Witch Queen Expanding, this earlier release date would be a good place to give this highly innovative martial arts game a chance to breathe. Hope, Sifu will find its audience to make it a resounding success for developer Sloclap.
