Pittsburgh Steelers registers Pro Bowl passer Melvin Ingram

After losing Bud Dupree in free agency and with questions about the birth, the Pittsburgh Steelers are bringing in Melvin Ingram.

Three-time professional player met Pittsburgh earlier on Monday, just for reporting signed a one-year contract with the Steelers.

Ingram, 32, spent each of his first NFL seasons with the Chargers in Southern California. He won three consecutive Pro Bowl trips from 2017-19, record a combo 53 quarterback hits and 24.5 pitches in that span.

However, the veteran passer fell out of favor under then-defensive coordinator Gus Bradley in 2020. Melvin Ingram scored all five midfield hits and had no points in seven. He doesn’t seem to be a good fit for new head coach Brandon Staley, who uses a 4-3 defense.

For the most part, Ingram played as an outside full-back. That should work well under Steelers defensive coordinator Keith Butler.

As mentioned above, losing the Bud Dupree pick in the first round to the Tennessee Titans congress rival in free agency left a hole behind TJ Watt. Dupree finished third on the team among sacks a season ago with eight though missed the last five games due to injury.

Pittsburgh added Quincy Roche to the sixth round of the 2021 NFL Draft from Miami. However, it is certainly necessary to have an advantage next season.

At the very least, Ingram brings a lot of experience and is a suitable plan for the Steelers to aim for start training camp This weekend.
