The Super Bowl-winning sportswear and luxury sneaker brand has partnered with VCI sport shoes in 2019 and have expanded their collaboration to include women’s sizes.
While VCI has colored lines named for key years in Cruz’s career, including 2012, the red, white, and blue lines for his Super Bowl victory with the New York Giants, the lines color VCII turns to topics that are important to Cruz and his personal life.
The colors of Majesty and Tribe are black and red, respectively, representing Black excellence, blood ties and courage. The two complementary colors are named Boricua for his Puerto Rican heritage and ‘Survivor’, paying homage to Cruz’s father’s firefighter uniform.
“Victor is a dapper man. He is very picky. He focuses on every detail, from the quality of the laces to the length of the stitches or the intensity of the colors. The process is similar to tuning a car. I want Victor to freely express himself,” said Pierre Hardy in a statement.
Hardy and Cruz designed the collection from a distance due to the pandemic and was heavily inspired by the Black Lives Matter protests in 2020. Cruz made it a spot that not only highlights his personal life. but also his community.
Speaking of his red Tribe shoes, he said: “Tribe represents the blood of those who lost their lives fighting for freedom for the Black community and the struggle and chaos we continue to face. present for many decades.
