Pick a corner: Best bets, predictions, odds on Roma vs Inter Milan, Chelsea vs West Ham & more

The European leagues start in August and run until the end of May. That means there’s a lot of football action over the weekend for us to bet on and it’s hard to get through all of them without one. bad week.
Last week was a bad week for the Corner Picks. Our first of the season, and hopefully the last. Each of the column’s three individual picks has been lost, and aside from the Over 3.5 rate in Manchester City’s 2-1 win over West Ham, none of them feel close to passing. So let’s just work with the assumption that we got all the terrible misses at once. It’s better to tear off the tape rather than slowly peel it off. We’re past the time to let go of the pain and get back to work. As usual, all odds are through Caesars Sportsbook.

My heart and my wallet are in conflict here. As a Napoli fan, I’m delighted that the Partenopei have been at the top of the Serie A table all season, but I can’t help but believe that Inter’s climb to the top is inevitable. Napoli are facing a few significant injuries while Inter are completing their form. This is bad for my heart but good for my wallet since I took Inter to the championship before the season even started. Inter are in absolute tears right now. They have only lost one of their last 16 matches in all competitions, with 11 wins and four draws. And they did it with a relentless attack.
Inter have scored 35 goals in those 16 games, with an expected scoring performance (xG) of 37.4, so it’s not a fluke. They are an absolute horror, and they are facing a Roma team that played well but failed to maintain a compelling start to the season. Roma have not beaten a team in the top half of Serie A since their early season win over Fiorentina. In addition, the best they got was a goalless draw against Napoli. They lost five of their other opportunities. I wouldn’t label Roma the Bumslayer, but it’s not far off either. Pick: Inter (-104)

West Ham vs. Chelsea, Saturday 7:30 am, NBCSN
Chelsea entered the weekend at the top of the Premier League, while West Ham struggled to stay in the top four. Former sides (Arsenal, Tottenham and Manchester United) have been gaining ground for the Hammers in recent weeks. Here, like Roma, they failed to generate momentum. And it should come as no surprise. West Ham are playing in Europe this year, but unlike all the other top clubs in England, they don’t have the opportunity to amass the kind of squad depth you need to get through all the games. that side match and still compete for the top spot. League. After losing just 2 of their first 17 games this season, West Ham have lost 2 of their last 4, with only one win (2-0 against Rapid Wien).
From what I can tell, it’s a combination of a slow attack and a sloppy defense. Not drastic, but both just enough for it to have an impact on results. Now The Hammers are hosting Chelsea, a club that has returned to its most dazzling form ever. I don’t think this game will be completely different from West Ham’s 2-1 loss to Man City last weekend. Pick: Chelsea (-130)

Sampdoria vs. Lazio, CN. 12 pm, Supreme +
This could be the beginning of our relationship and the end of the Lazio game. Lazio is the club that is supposed to compete for a place in the Champions League in Serie A but they are currently in 9th place because their defense is so bad. Lazio have conceded 29 goals in 15 matches, with only Spezia and Salernitana – two clubs fortunate to have avoided relegation – to concede more in Italy. Now, they’ve done it on 22.1 xG enable, so there could be some bad luck with it, or maybe Pepe Reina is 39 years old and continues her downward trend in skills.
Either way, Lazio’s matches are all about goalscorers because they score as many goals as they can. There was a 4-4 draw with Udinese on Thursday, but Lazio had let Napoli pass by four a few days earlier. Across all competitions, Lazio’s 20 matches averaged 3.4 goals per game, of which 13 had at least 3 goals scored. Lazio could be the new Leeds United of this column. Select: Over 2.5 (-130)
