Person of interest Raymond Spencer has died after 3 people were shot near Washington, DC, schools, police say

Authorities said a suspect in a shooting that left four people injured in Washington on Friday was found dead by suicide in an apartment, along with an arsenal of weapons and a sniper-style setup. and a large amount of ammunition, authorities said.

It appears the suspected gunman – whose name has not been officially released by authorities – streamed the horrific incident, filmed from his perspective, on social media.

“His intention was to kill and hurt members of our community,” said DC Sheriff Robert Contee.

“Looks like this person is just shooting at anyone random out there.”

Patricia Termini was at the nearby Edmund Burke School picking up a student when she heard gunfire and jumped back into her car to avoid being shot. However, she still got a graze as she took shelter inside the car.

“I was waiting in the alley, and suddenly there was an explosion that I thought were explosions,” Termini, in her 60s, told NBC Washington. “And then the second explosion happened, and I lay down in the car and called the people with the kid I was picking up, and I said, ‘There was some explosion or a bomb. I don’t know if it was a shooting or what,” she said. “And at that point, a bullet came from behind me and it grazed my shoulder, and I stood up, and at that point I said to myself, ‘I need to get out of here.’

The horror show took place Friday afternoon near Edmund Burke Private Preparatory School and the University of the District of Columbia.

Police said two women, a man and a 12-year-old child were wounded by bullets. Within hours, authorities said they were looking for a person of interest: Raymond Spencer, 23, of Fairfax, Virginia.

Three law enforcement officials with knowledge of the investigation told Articles washington on Friday night that investigators were analyzing online posts they believe Spencer may have left behind. A user with the same name wrote on 4chan, “God, please forgive me,” followed by someone after the shooting saying, “They’re in the wrong part of the building right now looking for XD.” The third and final message, posted at 3:36 p.m., reads, “Waiting for the police to catch me.”

“We believe the suspect took his own life when MPD members entered or broke into the apartment where the suspect was staying,” Contee said.

On Wikipedia, the Edmund Burke School page was modified Friday afternoon by a user named Raymond Spencer, to “A gunman opened fire on the school on April 22, 2022. Suspect is still big.” The revision is linked to a profile for Spencer, describing him as “proudly uncircumcised” and “an AR-15 maniac.”

As of 11 p.m. Friday night, blood could be seen on the street at the scene as investigators worked in the area. Metro police lieutenant Jason Bagshaw declined to comment on the investigation when asked for details by The Daily Beast.
