Pennsylvania GOP Senate Candidate Sean Parnell Resigns After Loss Of Custody Battle Amid Abuse Allegations

Pennsylvania GOP Senate candidate Sean Parnell has announced that he is dropping out of the race after losing a custody battle to his estranged wife, who has accused him of abuse.

“In that order, two of the top factors weighing on the judge’s decision revolved around my being the leading candidate for the United States Senate. Nothing is more important to me than my children, and while I intend to ask the court to reconsider, I cannot continue with a Senate campaign.” Parnell said in a statement, adding that he “strongly” disagrees with the ruling.

“I’m 100% focused on my kids and I want them to know that I don’t have any other priorities and won’t stop fighting for them.”

Parnell received Trump’s coveted endorsement of the Republican race and informed the former president on Monday that he was suspending his campaign.

The call, which concludes this chapter in Parnell’s political career, was brief – with Trump letting him down easily. According to a person familiar with the matter, the former president and current leader of the Republican Party told Parnell on Monday that he was right to focus on appealing the court’s custody decision.

NS Washington Post reported that Parnell’s wife, Laurie Snell, accused him of strangling her, throwing a chair at her, pinning her down, and calling her a “slut” and a “fuck.”

Snell testified during their custody dispute that Parnell “tried to strangle [her] on a couch and [she] literally had to bite him” to free her from his grip. “He strangled me,” she alleged.

Parnell’s children were also victims of his abuse, Snell claimed, tearfully recalling alleged cases in which Parnell hit one of their children so much that he left a “mark” full hands” on the child’s back. Parnell is said to have been very angry At his own child, he punched a cupboard door, then swung it in the face of the child, leaving bruises. Parnell tells the child, “It’s your fault,” according to Snell.

She also accused Parnell of looking for a gag order to prevent her from going public about the abuse allegations — twice — both of which were denied.

Parnell has vehemently denied these allegations, calling them “totally fabricated”.

Senior Judge James Arner disagreed and ultimately granted Snell primary custody of the couple’s three children, calling Snell a “more reliable witness” who “can honestly report Report the status regularly to Sean Parnell and, if necessary, to the court.” Pennsylvania GOP Senate Candidate Sean Parnell Resigns After Loss Of Custody Battle Amid Abuse Allegations
