Pedestrian killed in Friday night crash, investigation underway, West Kelowna RCMP – Okanagan

Police in West Kelowna says a pedestrian was killed in a crash Friday night. The incident is under investigation.
According to the RCMP, the incident happened shortly after 11 p.m., along the northbound lanes of Highway 97 near Grizzly Road. A police officer on patrol noticed the collision shortly after it happened.
The RCMP said that a sedan was involved and staff and witnesses provided immediate medical attention to the pedestrian.
Police said Emergency Medical Services transported the pedestrian to the hospital.
“Sadly, the pedestrian was later pronounced dead at the hospital,” police said on Saturday.
The RCMP said the driver remained at the scene and cooperated with police. Driving behavior, impaired ability and speed do not appear to be factors in the collision.
The road was temporarily closed while police gathered evidence and spoke to witnesses.
BC Coroners Service is conducting a parallel investigation.
