James Gunn recently admitted that he has no interest in taking control of the DCEU after receiving a lot of fan support to join the shared superhero universe, but he will surely prove his qualification if he changes his mind.

Suicide Squad briefly usurped Patty Jenkins’ Wonder Woman last summer became the saga’s highest-rated project on Rotten Tomatoes, before eventually dropping to a still-impressive 90%, with Shazam! but only 93% accumulated thanks to Gal Gadot’s solo debut.

However, People of Peace has now emerged at the top, with the HBO spin-off series Max currently boasting a score of 94%, giving Gunn two of the three best-reviewed attempts in DCEU history. It’s a commendable achievement, though one of the things that puts more pressure on the mystery TV show he’s preparing behind the scenes.

The DCEU has struggled to achieve commercial and critical consistency since its inception, but hopes are high that an upcoming group consisting of Black Adam, The Flash, Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom, Bat girl, and more will continue the hotel’s recent hot streak of success.

As it turns out, Gunn is the one responsible for long-term praise, so let’s hope he maintains that for a while at least.
