Partial BT Excel with Orome

ERL department of Excel Esports, BT Excel, announced Andrei “Orome” Popa is leaving the team today League of Legends assignment table. The Romanian top laner has yet to reveal his next destination, nor has BT Excel filled the slot.

Orome begins her career League career in 2016, but he made his LEC debut on Splyce in 2019. After the team was rebranded as MAD Lions, Orome played under the organization’s banner in four Splits and appeared at Worlds in 2020.

After a stint with the MAD Lions, Orome switched to ERL by playing for MAD Madrid and then finding a more permanent position in BT Excel. With Orome in the top lane, BTXL won the NLC Spring Split and finished second at the EU Masters Spring, losing only to Karmine Corp.

During the NLC Summer Split, both Mark “Markoon” van Woensel and Henk “Advienne” Reijenga were called up to the LEC main roster. Team ERL struggled after the sudden departure of their jungler and support duo and a disappointing Summer Playoffs that prevented the team from reaching the EU Masters for the second time in a row.

After transferring most of its roster to the LEC team or to other ERL teams, BTXL now only has two active players on its roster. Now, the team will also have to find someone else to fill the top lane role following Orome’s departure. Although the 2021 BTXL team has all but dissolved, Orome helped make for a memorable year for the British esports organization.
