Overwatch’s Lunar New Year Event Returns Jan. 25

Overwatch will kick off its first event of 2022 with parties and festivals. This year’s Lunar New Year event scheduled to run from January 25th to February 15th with exclusive cosmetics, Blizzard confirmed today.

The Overwatch The Twitter account posted a short teaser of the event. While it doesn’t feature any other skins or cosmetics, the video features the voices of Doomfist, Mercy, and Tracer. Doomfist claims he will “eat more dumplings than anyone has ever eaten.” And in response, Mercy can be heard laughing and saying “Wonderful!” The video ends with Tracer enthusiastically wishing fans “Happy Lunar New Year!”

The event is themed on the year of the Tiger and is the fifth iteration of the annual Lunar New Year event for Overwatch. During the three-week run, the Competitive Chess Contest is likely to resurface again, offering players the chance to climb the ladder and earn competitive points. While the community remains divided over the regime, it has enthusiastic supporters.

The Lunar New Year event brings a new look, spray, dialogue, emoji, and featured intro every year. Players can earn special event loot boxes for a chance to get these items or buy them with credits. Exclusive cosmetics from past Lunar New Year events will also be available for purchase. Old Legendary skins cost 1,000 Credits, while Epic skins cost 250. Items from the latest collection cost three times as much, with Legendary skins costing 3,000 Credits and Epic items cost 750.

Players can look forward to the event that kicks off the 2022 Chinese New Year, complete with new and returning cosmetics and potentially legacy game modes, on January 25. Fun, parties, and rights Access to exclusive items will end on February 15th.
