There was a time Overwatch fans believe they will play the long-awaited game Overwatch 2 This year. Unfortunately, Blizzard has delayed Overwatch 2 multiple times, with the latest delay meaning fans likely won’t get their hands on the game as early as around 2023. One has to imagine that something included Overwatch 2 The delay was necessitated by the serious rework of many of the game’s characters to accommodate the new 5v5 setup, with Blizzard keeping a tight hold on most of the remastered characters to date.

While Blizzard did not reveal a ton Overwatch 2 character remake, it gave players a look at what they could expect in terms of changes to characters like Winston and Mei. Leaker EeveeA cited three sources (two with alleged evidence and one “verbal”) who said that Overwatch 2 is making a big change to Mercy That’s no different from a change that EeveeA proposed a year ago. Apparently this change will remove Mercy’s Resurrection ability, allowing her to bring teammates back from the dead and replace it with a move called Angelic Blessing.

It looks like Mercy’s new Angel Blessing ability will essentially allow her to pull over to an ally and take them to safety. So instead of having Res to bring players back from the dead, this new Mercy ability will instead be a bit more proactive, focusing on keeping teammates alive. Whether or not there is any truth to this remains to be seen, and it’s also unclear exactly when fans will find out more.

As said before, Overwatch 2 affected by big delay, and that combined with Activision Blizzard’s ongoing controversies leaves fans increasingly uncertain as to when fans will see more games in action. Before the delay, it looks like Blizzard has really stepped up Overwatch 2 revealed, but it’s possible those plans are being shelved.

With no Overwatch 2 release in sight, fans have been asking Blizzard to release more content for the original game to help pass the time. More specifically, there is hope that Overwatch 2 Hero Sojourn will be added to the original Overwatch, but Blizzard has not responded to those requests at the time of this writing.

Overwatch 2 is in the process of development.
