Over $12M in grant funding going towards police positions in Regina, Saskatoon

The Saskatchewan government has introduced a mixed complete of $12.3 million for policing initiatives between the Saskatoon Police Service (SPS) and Regina Police Service (RPS).

On Monday, the Ministry of Corrections, Policing and Public Security introduced a dedication of $5.93 million for RPS, whereas SPS will obtain $6.37 million in funding.

The federal government stated $5.03 million of the funding for Regina police can be drawn from the Municipal Police Grants to fund 40 RPS positions in 2021-2022, a rise of $86,000 from final fiscal 12 months.

In Saskatoon, $5.47 million from this system will go in direction of 44 positions.
