Our Flag Means Death season 2: Release Date, Cast, and More to Know

Our flag means death There is no second season yet. Bring what?
It was a surprising decision given the spread of love the show has steadily received on social media and growing in popularity among other HBO Max content. Even Our flag means death Creator David Jenkins says he’s not sure what the hold issue is.
Jenkins told The Los Angeles Times in early April: “It’s a tough thing not to continue after what happened at the end of it. “I hope they understand. I hope they want to do more. I know everyone on the show wants that.”
In the same interview, Taika Waititi (who plays Blackbeard and executive produces the series, other than directing the pilot): “I don’t know anything. I just think they should because it makes sense. Also, I need to know what happens next. [Laughs]”
While the wait is sure to be painful, Jenkins and crew have hinted at what they want to see from the groundbreaking show, which is that it will be renewed. Here’s everything we know about season 2 of Our flag means death hitherto.
[Ed. note: As one might expect, this post gets into some spoilers for the end of season 1. Ye be warned.]

When will season 2 of Our Flag Means Death air?
No words yet! With the show yet to be refreshed, there aren’t many details yet on when production on the show will begin again.
What is the vision for the plot of season 2?
While the broader plot elements of season 2 have yet to be released, Jenkins has hinted at cooking up some ideas as the screenwriters are breaking season 1. As Jenkins told Polygon earlier in the year For now, those are the final three episodes that he thinks are “Really Working” for what he has in mind for the show’s future:
It’s amazing, the stories really come out. There’s like four different stories going on there, which I think is “Eughhh, it’s a lot!” But it flows really nicely. I think the fun for me in building this show was that there were really violent moments, because pirates are criminals, and those moments that were really broad and really funny, and then moments where we really just need to blend in and have it for everyone to see. As long as all three of those things alternate, I’m happy. One might get more precedence in an episode, but if all three are there, it’s still good and working.
Of course, Waititi told Decider that he has a complaint to enhance season 2’s outfit choices: “It’s all hair and beard, I feel like no one is going to talk to me,” Waititi said. . “It is very hot. I will sit in this little tent with the air conditioning on. I will feel lonely. “

Is Lucius really dead?
It seemed unlikely, given how enjoyable Nathan Foad was in the role and overall tone of the plot. But when Collider asked Jenkins, he just said “You have to wait.”
What will happen to Stede and Ed in season 2?
After breaking up (in a way) at the end of season 1, the first season ended with Stede going back to the pirate life and finding peace with who he was.
Darby told Indiewire: “So he started to feel, obviously physically – because the wound was so severe – and then emotionally, finding someone he felt loved. love and love”. “I think he went back to the sea just because he never felt so alive in his life when he was actually dead. So I think he’s obviously going to be looking for Ed, but really the other thing he’s going to be looking for is getting the whole gang back together, getting the ship, and feeling the love in any capacity. meaningful to him. “
Unfortunately, he will have to cut his job for him, as Ed has gone completely different after they broke up. His final acts in the season 1 finale involved going back to the Blackbeard he used to be, and setting his own against the world: He cut off Izzy’s toes and gave them to him. himself, members of Stede’s crew that he doesn’t use, and even violently attacks those he does.
“The show is the relationship,” Jenkins told Decider. “So we end up in a place where there is this breakup. What happens after a breakup between two people, one realizes he’s in love and the other gets hurt in a way he’s never been hurt before? What does that do to each of them in one action, pirate world with them trying to find each other again? So again, I really love those rom-com beats. ”

Jenkins remains very committed to thinking about Our flag means death as a love story between Ed and Stede. But that may not mean their problems are fully resolved in season 2; he’s thinking a little longer, as he told Polygon ahead of the finale:
I think three seasons is good. I think we can do it in three times. I mean, I don’t know – your perception of what’s really the story is changing a lot in the writing room. If not, you are doing it wrong. Because you have all those other super smart writers who have their own life experiences, and you talk all season with them, and then you say, “Oh, man, there’s all these something else is there.” But right now, I feel like maybe we can do it in three days. What drew me to this story and made me want to write the show was asking who Stede was to Blackbeard, and who Blackbeard was to Stede. For me, that’s the point that runs through the entire series. And I didn’t know you wanted to see that happen in five, six seasons.
Which love story does Izzy fit into?
While Stede has to cut his job to try to win Ed back, his first mate may not make it easy. After convincing Ed to return to his full Blackbeard form, Izzy’s devotion to Ed’s wild side is what Jenkins says is deeply rooted in its own form of affection. And while he agrees with the idea that Con O’Neill’s Izzy is “playing the only human with a bunch of Muppets” there’s definitely a threat behind that devotion.
“I think Izzy loves Blackbeard deeply, and it’s a very dysfunctional kind of love, and he’s like the sick spouse who lost his loved one to Stede Bonnet, and he just couldn’t believe it. this is happening,” Jenkins told The Verge in April. “[Con O’Neill] plays a really likable draining quality because the character can be generally evil, and the way Con plays, it’s like, he’s believable. I believe he can do some damage if he wants to. ”

Is Our Flag Means Death season 2 based on true stories of pirates?
Our flag means death is good and fun, but the actual history of Blackbeard and Bonnet is much darker. But in the end, Jenkins doesn’t see the show as a real re-examination of historical records.
“You wouldn’t want to meet the real Blackbeard. Blackbeard was actually a rapist who had given women to his crew. Stede Bonnet was actually a slave owner. When we tell these stories, we have to be clear with what we’re doing because all of these people are despicable,” Jenkins told The Verge.
“We wanted a show where these characters could exist in a fantasy world and their race or homosexuality didn’t automatically lead to a traumatic storyline for them.”
Will we see more of Jackie’s Spanish husbands?
Given the supposed sheer number of them, it seems like a solid bet. Plus, Leslie Jones told TV Insider that she thinks there’s a story to how Jackie got her name: “I think it had something to do with a guy, with one of her ex-husbands. her or something, because I don’t think she’s spanish. ”
So maybe we’ll meet someone from the past, or a potential ex-grandpa. Spanish Jackie.
