Last week, “Space Jam” was highly anticipated next part “Space Jam: A New Legacy,” starring LeBron James, is released in theaters and on HBO Max. While some are excited to see the series continue, one who is said to be unimpressed is Joe Pytka, who directed the original film.
TMZ shared that they spoke to Joe about the new sequel and that, according to the website, he wasn’t impressed with the film. In fact, he called the film an “uninteresting mess.”
However, that’s not all when it comes to his critiques of the new film. Joe also told the site that he couldn’t finish the two-hour film in one sitting because it was too boring and it took five separate sessions to complete the film.
TMZ reports that Joe admits that LBJ is “an incredible athlete and a very good actor,” but added, “The truth is LeBron isn’t Michael.” He noted that when he directed the 1996 film, not only was Michael Jordan one of the most popular characters, but the plot of the film was also related to MJ’s personal life as he retired from basketball to Play baseball.
Joe was compared between the soundtracks of both films and the NBA players who starred in both films.
In the end, he made it clear to TMZ that he wasn’t upset about the remake, he wasn’t impressed with it. The new movie “looks like one of those fluffy dolls that you buy at the airport gift shop to bring to your kids when your business trip is too long.”
Roommate, what do you think of the new movie?
