That debate has certainly been politicized, with the majority of Democrats debating victims’ rights and Republicans debating strongly about due process protections. (Interestingly, it’s the opposite of the generally accepted stance on crime.) President Trump’s secretary of education, Betsy DeVos, reversed Obama-era guidance and, finally, replace it with official rules doing much more to protect defendants – too many, say critics, who have introduced different provisions, such as the right to cross-examine whistleblowers or directives to respond. Responding to sexual harassment discipline must be objective offensive, serious and common.
