Opening of Fukuoka’s GUNDAM Park Attraction in April 2022

A new one Gundam is coming to Fukuoka’s LaLaport Fukuoka shopping mall. GUNDAM PARK, will include Gundam-themed shops and activities, will open April 2022.

The mall is currently home to life size Nu Gundam RX-93ff figurine from Mobile Suit Gundam: Char’s Counterattack. GUNDAM PARK attractions will include three shops; GUNDAM SIDE-F FUKUOKA, VS PARK WITH G and NAMCO.

GUNDAM SIDE-F FUKUOKA store will have a dedicated Gunpla construction area and a screen wall 10 meters wide x 6 meters high. It will be designed to resemble the inside of a space colony, and will also host a lot Gundam-themed events.

VIDEO GAME OF THE DAY

The VS PARK WITH G store will serve as a sports entertainment facility and feature various attractions similar to what one would see on a Japanese variety show. The facility will have Gundam-Themed versions of different games, such as the running game, “Nigekiru” and the dodging game, “Yokekiru”.

The NAMCO store will be a fun facility aimed at customers of all ages. The facility will feature arcade cabinets, crane machines, limited edition prizes, and capsule toys.

A live-action film that is said to take place in the Universal Century timeline is currently in the works and is being produced by Netflix and Legendary Pictures. Some concept art showcasing a live-action version of the iconic RX-78-2 was revealed in November.

The most recent Gundam anime project, a film trilogy adapted from Yoshiyuki Tomino’s Mobile Suit Gundam: Hathaway’s Flash light novel, released in Japan on June 11, 2021 and available to stream on Netflix on July 1. Sunrise is animating the series, with Shūkō Murase (Gangsta, Ergo Proxy) director and Yasuyuki Muto (Afro Samurai, Persona -trinity soul-) series composition processing. The second entry in the trilogy, Bright sun, no release window as of now.
