Olivia Rodrigo’s ‘Sour’ Is No. 1 For A Fourth Overall Week

With a whole album (Sour) and a long-time chart-topping single (“Driving License”), Olivia Rodrigo took home the win this week at the White House. Singer meets with President Joe Biden, where she urges young people to get vaccinated, meet Dr. Faucic ,and read funny vaccine tweets with the Commander-in-Chief. All in all, it was also an eventful week that ended well: Sour back to 1st place on Billboards 200 for the 24th of July chart.

This is the second week in a row and the fourth overall Sour top Billboards album chart, which it achieved with 83,000 album units – down slightly from weeks ago 88,000. Sour is now the first debut by a woman in over 11 years spending four weeks at number 1 since Susan Boyle did so with her 2009 album, I dreamed a dream. That singer’s reign lasted six consecutive weeks, from December 12, 2009 to January 16, 2010.

Sour also surpassed Justin Bieber’s Justice to become Most Streamed Albums on Spotify 2021, which took place shortly after she released her concert film, Sour Prom. She recently discussed the missteps she has dealt with in the past. “I feel like I’m surrounded by people who really respect me and treat me well,” she said told NME in the May. “I’m really lucky in that respect and I hope that my generation of artists can really create a path for younger artists.”
