Far-right cable channel One America News Network has endured an exodus of talent in recent months, largely due to uncertainty about its future after satellite provider DirecTV pulled the channel from its schedules this spring. But not everyone who has left OAN is a victim of the existential crisis the network is currently in.
OAN moderator Dan Ball’s behavior prompted at least one person to leave the network, according to four current and former employees. Sources tell us that Ball hurled a phone at a producer during a heated confrontation in the newsroom earlier this year. This incident, the culmination of a heated feud with the producer, led to the collaborator’s parting ways with OAN shortly thereafter.
According to Confider’s sources, Ball cracked loose sexual jokes in front of everyone, occasionally yelled profanity in the newsroom, and even aired his personal drama with his much younger fiancé – who was hired alongside Ball as his booking producer – in front of the newsroom.
“He was like a habitual line stepper, you know, he was just always trying to say things and trying to upset people,” said an insider.
These accusations aren’t exactly coming from left field.

Ball, who was dominating the local news before landing at OAN in 2020, was ousted from a Las Vegas station in 2012 after a “sometimes turbulent 21-month stint,” according to the Las Vegas Review Journal. Sources told the newspaper that Ball was “suspended at least once” and “got into trouble for obscenely yelling at a colleague,” resulting in Ball being “greeted with boxes packed and escorted out of the station” when he arrived Work came one day.
When Confider reached out to a staffer at his OAN show a few weeks ago, Ball — who has urged OAN viewers to dig up “dirt” about the network’s perceived enemies — immediately called Confider to chastise us. He explained that internally there had been no complaints from HR about his behavior but acknowledged that there was “one disgruntled employee” who may have a grievance.
The ex-producer, who dodged the thrown phone, asked that his name not be released and declined to comment further on the matter.
“Go ahead and print your lies. My lawyer will get in touch with you. Have a nice day,” Ball Confider replied via text message, along with American flag emojis and a thumbs-up. One America News did not respond to repeated requests for comment.
